The Inhabitants Opening Sequence (With AI Generated Images)

This opening sequence was created for the film The Inhabitants, a Four Horsemen & Co. Film

When exploring how to create the animated sequence for this film, we discussed using AI. We eventually decided to use Dall-E to generate a series of images generated from a variety of prompts, I then stitched them together and used them as frames playing the images rapidly but not at any specific frame rate creating a jarring and unsettling sense of motion. Finally I applied some effects and edited the videos into a 16x9 video format.

This sequence sees a lone individual chased by many figures in red. This was inspired by the poster created for the film. The viewer watches as the runner (Logan) runs through a small costal town and the nearby areas including, a forest environment, the beach, cabins, and ports. As he runs, Logan seems to be more and more engulfed in a red haze suggesting he may be turning into whatever is chasing him. This idea is also shown as whatever is chasing Logan starts as looking either silhouetted or abstract in shape, but as the chase goes on the figures seem more and more human. In the end Logan is completely engulfed in red light, and as he looks at himself in the final image he too is red!
